ABOUT ME
Holmes Fan. Narrator. Actor
I'm Greg Wagland, actor and audiobook narrator, producing my own work under the label Magpie Audio. I've been narrating audiobooks since 1994, first of all for RNIB Talking Book Service at Great Portland Street, London. In 2012 I recorded 5 public domain audiobooks having wangled a contract with Audible, who undertook to host and sell them. Over the years, when not treading the boards, I've gradually added to that catalogue and many of those audiobooks have proved very popular, such as Cardinal Newman's Apologia Pro Vita Sua.
I've always been a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and got it into my head that my versions would do well on Audible. They didn't. Take a look - every man and his dog has recorded them for big publishers. Whilst not sinking totally without trace, they were certainly in the process of drowning and were definitely not waving. So to cut a tediously long story short I have popped my early Sherlock recordings onto YouTube and they have proved so popular that I've been gradually adding to the canon, exclusively to YouTube.
I've yet to record a couple of the stories and one of the novels. Incredibly some of the great detective's tales have yet to fall (definitively) into the public domain.
I do hope you enjoy them!
Cheers,
Greg
