I Digress podcast
The Slow Audiobook movement is growing apace. But what is the Slow Audiobook movement, I hear you cry?
Well, it's one antidote to social media isolation. Ever get that feeling that you're alone in a slough of despond, which manifests itself as a slough of marketing? That the only podcast is the true crime or paranormal podcast and that the only audiobook is the one everyone else is listening to.
And sometimes an audiobook, (and don't get me wrong - I make 'normal audiobooks' too) can resemble so much else on the internet: it can feel cold, precise and just another slick vehicle to part you from your cash.
No one can accuse this of being slick. No sirree! And I *currently* have no plans to part you from your cash ;-)
Fuse them together - an audiobook with a podcast - and maybe you get something a bit more human, a bit more friendly? You have a guide, not much of one, and perhaps a companion, again, not much of one, someone to keep you focussed and unfocussed, and the aim is... well, there is no aim. No end gaining, just the journey. Isn't that what we all want to do? No obligation to do anything but drift through the text, like Huck Finn on his raft. No certificate at the end, no pat on the back from the book club. Just the feeling that you've encountered the story with someone else. And it's episodic. Get away from the binge watch. Pick it up every week.
Saturation entertainment is the new Pie Eating contest.
And whenever you get bored with Slow Audiobooks, and should you do so then you are very possibly bored with life, then there's a version of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' on this site that's perfectly serviceable for 'normal' listening.
Slow Audiobooks. It's what you've been missing. Give it a go!
Kind regards
Greg
